In the International Air Services (COVID-19 Restrictions on the movement of air travel) Directions, 2020, the loading and off-loading of air cargo in and out of certain International Airports is permitted.
The following International Airports will be ready to handle air cargo:
- O.R. Tambo
- King Shaka
- Upington
- Polokwane
- Bram Fischer
- Kruger Mpumalanga
- Pilanesberg; and
- Port Elizabeth
- Cape Town International Airport
The Directive states that air cargo coming from medium to high-risk countries must be sanitised immediately after being off-loaded from the aircraft.
The Cross-Border Road Transport Special Dispensation (COVID-19) Directions issued on 25 March 2020 make allowance for cross-border freight movement to continue to and from neighbouring countries.
The National Port Act (COVID-19 Restrictions on the movement of persons and crew) Regulations 2020 allow for the loading and off-loading of cargo in and out of all seaports.
