Am I permitted to be outside my house during curfew hours for work during Alert Level 1 in South Africa?
Yes, you are.
According to the 28 February 2021 Level 1 Disaster Management Regulations, you may leave your residence between 00h00 and 04h00 if you have a Permit to Travel to Perform a Service (Form 7) under Alert Level 1. This means that you may be outside of your residence during the curfew hours, as long as you have a permit. Click here to find out who can fill in the permit and to download a permit template.
Always carry identification with you, together with your permit.
You are also allowed to leave your residence if you have a medical or security emergency or if you are traveling to or from the airport for a flight.
If you are travelling to or from the airport, you need to be in possession of a valid boarding pass or copy of your airline ticket as proof of flight.
Note that if you live in an area designated as a hotspot, the curfew is from 10pm – 4am.
