Elderly consumers were most at risk from COVID-19 and many were forced to stand in long queues to purchase their daily essentials. The Mr Cheap wholesaler in Lansdowne noticed that many pensioners from surrounding areas were queuing well before opening time in an effort to beat the rush. In order to provide support, the wholesaler began providing care packages to customers of 60-years and older to help alleviate the pressure this high-risk group was under. Each care package contained a bottle of liquid hand soap, a bottle of hand sanitiser, a bar of Dettol soap, a pair of gloves and a mask.
